As bird, insect and amphibian species appear in the garden, I’ll be keeping a census here, along with photos and observations. Dare I hope for a hedgehog?

I am restricting this list to birds that alight in the garden. Because Rotterdam, like the most of the Netherlands, is a place of canals and rivers, we have masses of waterbirds—gulls, geese, ducks, swans, shags, etc., etc.,—but as these tend to fly overhead rather than land in the garden*, I’m not including them.
[*That might change of course, once the frogs move in… yikes.]
